Today will be an update on my trip to River Safari with the little monsters which took place yesterday. I didn't take much pictures but before you think this post will be a boring one, watch the video that I have complied! Hehe ;-)
While waiting for the tickets to be purchased…
There were 7 sections under "Rivers of The World". The first river was "Mississippi River" -the largest river system in North America, which flows through 10 states and is the world's fourth longest river. The animals that were for viewing included the American Beaver, Mississippi Puddlefish, Alligator Gar and Alligator Snapping Turtle.
The second river is called "Congo River" which is the deeeeepest river in the world and is found in Africa! African Dwarf Crocodile and the Tigerish were under this section…
"River Nile" was the next river we went to. Yup, fishes again- Congo Tetra, Giant Puffer Fish,This is the longest river which meanders through 10 African countries and also brings life and wealth to Egypt. Hehe I didn't take any pictures because the water in their "tank" was quite blurish….. but I think you can see some of the snippets in the video though.
The "Ganges River" flows through India and Bangladesh. The Goonch Catfish and Indian Gharial were there for us to view!
LOOK AT THIS INDIAN GHARIAL. It was SUPER huge and it just floated there without even moving. The students were in disbelief and kept telling me its fake. Tried to convince them but failed kuakuakuaaaa~
The "Murray River" which include creatures like the Murray Cod, Barramundi and the Australian Lungfish is found in Australia. This river covers 1/7 of the Earth's driest continent.
The next river we went was "Mekong River", which flows through 6 counties in Southeast Asia before entering South Vietnam and then into the South China Sea.
One of the exhibits includes the Mekong Giant Catfish
The Lesser Adjutant Stork
Elephant Trunk Snake
Lastly, we went to the section under "Yangtze River". This is Asia's longest river as well as the world's third longest river, which is located in China. We saw the Yangtze Alligator, Chinese Giant Salamander and the Sturgeon.
Boohoo we didn't go in to check jiajia and kaikai out…. This means we missed the Golden Pheasant and the Red Panda too. We thought we have to pay an additional price for this exhibition but noooooo, we found out only after we left sigh
Just me and some of my students.
After lunch we headed to the other half of the park -Wild Amazonia. First up was the Amazon River Quest where we took a boat around to check the animals out!
While queuing up…. we camwhored because the queue was so darn long.
After 1.5 hours of queuing and grumbling, we were FINALLY at the front!!! The kids were so excited, even I was!!
No pictures during the adventure because I took videos!! Please watch the video I posted at the beginning of the post okay. So this boat ride was a huge disappointment. I felt as though time was wasted queuing up for something which wasn't worth. 3/4 of the animals CANNOT be seen at all. Either the zoo hasn't put them up for the exhibition or they are just hiding among the trees. Zzzzzz some of the students wanted to go for another round but most of them were like "This sucks la. Queue so long then so boring." But oh well it was complimentary because it opened like a week ago or something. To be honest, I wouldn't pay for it in future.
Squirrel Monkey Forest
The monkeys were running and swinging about freely, which I was a little afraid because it was right in our faces. The two cheeky primary 5 boys had to scare me "CHER BEHIND YOU!!" Yup, I screamed and ran away. One of the monkeys was really behind me like maybe 30cm away.
Amazon Flooded Forest
HAHA as you can see, I got lazy with my explaining/ giving information…. But you all can just read it from the website la k. Overall, I honestly feel that River Safari isn't worth the visit at all. I don't know why people are raving about it. Its so disappointing!!! The park is just too small, you can finish exploring within 3 hours or lesser if you are not gonna take the boat ride. But then again, if you don't take the boat, you'll only get to see half of the park. The animals are also hiding most of the time lor. All you see if greeneries, stones and water :( I had a fun day with my kids though!! The next (and last) outing next friday will be a trip to Kids Kampung. Hopefully it won't be a huge disappointment. I haven't visited Kids Kampung since…. I was K2 which is 12 years back. Omg I am getting OLD.
Till then, xx!
