MONTIGO Part 1: Departure > Arrival > IndoThai Massage > Nagoya Hill (A&W/ Grocery Shopping)

My cousins and I went for a mini getaway to Montigo Resorts in Batam (Nongsapura) over the weekend for 2D1N! I'll be splitting this post into three because there are too many visuals (mainly) and words to type, hence squeezing everything into one entry will definitely be too "heavy". I have also edited a vlog and it is uploaded on my YouTube channel. I'm sorry, I don't think I am able to give a very detailed post/ tips on Montigo because I didn't take note of the price. Their currency is sooooo freaking big???? The number of zeros on the notes made me super blur. So most of the time I just asked my cousins to calculate and take my money hahahaha. But i'll TRY my best to be as detailed as possible.

*gotten some information from my cousin's blog*

Marilyn settled everything for us, from the ferry tickets to the villas to reading blogs on tips when you visit Montigo. She booked everything through this agent called HolidayBagus Travel Services Ptd Ltd and communicated with them through e-mails. The rates were:

  • 2D1N $151/pax of 5 for weekend
  • 3D2N $232/pax of 5 for weekend
  • 2D1N $107/pax of 5 for weekday
The prices above includes the price for the villa and ferry tickets. However an additional charge of SGD $26 is needed for ferry taxes. You'll have to pay them when you check-in at the ferry terminal and collect your boarding ticket.

All of us met at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal at 7AM for check in. Once we got our ferry tickets, we bought some food to munch on from 7-11 as our breakfast prior to boarding the ferry. The ferry leaves at 8AM (earliest slot) and we had to board 10 mins before the gate closes.

After 40 mins of ferry ride, we arrived at Nongsapura Ferry Terminal, Batam. Which means we arrived at about 7.45AM Batam timing. Did the necessary immigration checks and there was a mini bus from Montigo Resorts to charter us (we booked from an agent thats why everything was prepared for us). I say mini bus because it is not the average bus size you see in Singapore. It looked so cute??? Even the mini buses in Singapore isn't like that. Check it out! The aisle and the seats were damn cramp we could hardly move especially with our big baggages. But no worries, the journey from the ferry terminal to the resort is just a 5-10 mins drive away!

View from Montigo Resorts lobby! When we arrived, one of the resort's staff hit the gong to welcome us. We were also served with some iced tea but I hated it, as well as cold wet towel for us to sort of freshen up! (I don't know why there are two black spots in the picture I think my lens was dirty boo)

As it was the weekends (and also the school holidays), we couldn't check in till about 12PM- Batam time so it meant that we had about 3 hours before we could check in….. We then decided to book a cab from the resort to their "town" area, Nagoya Hill which was a 45 mins drive away. You can ask the resort staffs to book a "cab" for you but actually it felt more like a personal chauffeur. Not sure about the exact price but I think each person was about SGD $6 for two ways? It adds up to a total of $30 for two ways for 5 people. The best thing is that the driver would always be on standby for you.

*edited- one way trip from Montigo Resorts to Nagoya Hill costs about 200K Rupiah, which means for two ways it will be 400K Rupiah. Haha I don't know how to convert to SGD and I admit I am lazy so please convert yourself*

Upon reaching the shopping centre, our driver informed us that the shops would only be open an hour later or so….. Hence we went opposite the shopping centre to have a nice relaxing massage at a place called IndoThai Massage. The best service that the place provided was free wifi!!! Hahah within this generation, having internet access means the world right. We all did a full body scrub + massage and it costs SGD $35 per head. I guess it is quite cheap considering the fact that it is full body? When they mean full body, it really means FULL BODY ok!!!!!!!! The entire 1.5 hours was rather awkward because the masseuse touches every single part of your body including the breasts… *ahem* But I felt super clean and refreshed after the scrub. I cannot imagine how dirty my body was. Oh the scrub came in different flavours to choose from and all of us chose the lavender smelling one. When the lotion first comes into contact with the skin, it is damnnnnnnnn cold but after it dries up woah, damn pain and it felt like all the dead skin was drying up as well. But good la! Showering facilities were also provided for us to rinse the dirt and excess lotion on our skin. After the massage the staffs will also ask if we would like any tea while waiting for others to be done. Ambience of the environment was calmed and dark. Overall, good service! RECOMMEND!

Our driver was outside the massage place the moment we stepped out after 1.5 hours. So nice of him!! He then drove us back opposite where the shopping mall was. The first thing we did was to look for A&W and have our lunch there! I was super excited to have A&W even before the trip was confirmed. However, I was super disappointed as much as I was excited. Maybe because I was served with the breast part of the chicken so it was damn siap and dry. I HATED IT. Changed my root beer float to coke float because I don't drink root beer. Curly fries wasn't served hot/ warm…. I think Singapore's McDonalds serves even better curly fries during Chinese New Year. The ice cream waffles was so-so, I think that our waffle was overcooked so it kinda tasted weird and hard. It should be crispy on the surface, soft and fluffy inside. We saw another customer's waffles when we ordered our mains and it looked so much better? I can't remember the price of the main but I think it was the average McDonalds price which means it is not cheap. The ice cream waffles was cheap though, about SGD $3?

Didn't shop after our lunch because the fashion was……. *speechless* hahahah I don't need to elaborate much la. Gave doing our nails a miss because the price was about the same as SG's. Immediately went down to the hyper mart to get groceries for our BBQ night. I don't really recommend to get the food from there because it isn't that fresh and some of the food (like hotdog) tasted weird. Yeah, prior to the trip we read blogs about the food but we thought it wouldn't be that bad. So I guess if you really wanna have chicken wings, satay and other "real" BBQ food, I suggest to get them from SG before hand? However IndoMie saved the day hahahaha. It was quite cheap. A carton of 24 jumbo packets costs no more than SGD $7!!!!!!! We still managed to get food to BBQ though. Crabmeat, luncheon meat……. and I can't remember but not that much variety. We over bought everything…. Wasted. The frozen food can come in "lose" forms instead of vacuum packed. Really different from SG's culture huh? Oh, we also managed to get a mini BBQ pit and all the necessary stuff needed there. It was like the Indonesia version of GIANT. Our total bill came to approximately SGD $100 which means 1 million rupiah hahahahahah. Erm, it is quite cheap considering that we bought a whole lot of food including a few bottles of drinks.

I guess I shall end part 1 here… I feel that there's just too many things here already and it might actually bore you. I hope it didn't!!!!!!! Hmmmm for any questions or clarifications, please feel free to ask me personally or just leave a note on my ask.fm okie! Be back with part 2 and part 3 very soon~ Thank you for reading and bearing with me.
