Tom Yum Kung Fu

You'll be able to see it the moment you reach Chomp Chomp.
My brother suggested to dine in at Tom Yum Kungfu for mookata instead of the usual Chomp Chomp (the reason why we decided to go to Serangoon Gardens because of my 5-days waffle craving). So yup, we decided to try the mookata outlet which was recently opened at Serangoon Gardens. There's another brunch at Clarke Quay and I tried it before! Yay to a nearer outlet!!! Tom Yum Kungfu serves both mookata and ala-cart traditional thai food cuisine. Since our main objective was to have mookata, we passed ordering dishes from the ala-cart menu, except my favourite thai prawn cake.
Ordered the set for 3-4 pax at $44.90 and an extra plate of pork belly. It was enough for my family of 5. The meat was seasoned well and the soup was so yummy!! Couldn't stop drinking it, it must be because of the oil that seep through from the meat and they confirm put a lot of MSG. Didn't take photos of the other pages of the menu because our orders came pretty fast. The price is reasonable, I guess but please think ah. Some really ridiculous. Like an extra serving of glass noodles costs $5 lehhhhh.
4 pieces of thai prawn cake for $8 (min. order: 4) AHHH couldn't resist ordering this. Every single time I enter a Thai outlet, the first thing I look for in the menu is this! Good but the best thai prawn cake I ate was from Tom Yum Goong at Simpang Bedok, but I heard from my friends that already close down? Nuuuuuu misosad. Okay, so if you think this is expensive. I can assure you that this IS the normal price across all the different thai food places that you can find.
The total bill came out to be about $70+ to $80. This includes the set, extra plate of pork belly, thai prawn cakes ($8 for 4), wet tissue ($0.50 each), rice ($1 per bowl), ice water but with lemon in it ($0.50 per glass) and also a 5% service charge! Would totally visit this outlet again and again and again and again since it is sooooo near my place and after that I ask can go eat my waffles heheeh. Thai songs would be played at the background but it isn't noisy because the place is open concept. Awesome because this means more ventilation, you won't really reek of mookata, sure you will smell la but not as bad as closed areas.
I think that this place opens till quite late because when we left at about 10.30pm, there were still customers who just came. Anyway I went at about 8..45pm so there wasn't any crowd at all. Managed to get a table within 5 mins or less. Not sure about the crowd during dinner time!!

Didn't know this little ice cream polour existed until I blog hopped last week. Oblong is like a hidden jem of Serangoon Gardens. Really didn't know there was such a place since December or something when I have been visiting Chomp Chomp so often??? So yup, saw instagram hashtags and read blogs about the red velvet waffle. DOESN'T IT SOUNDS SO YUMEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH? I think this is the first ice cream shop in Singapore that serves red velvet waffles. From my visits to Udders and Little Ice Cream Kafe, I have not come across before, just the normal waffle.
Reasonable prices! A single scoop costs $3.30 for normal flavours but an additional $0.60 will be charged for flavours like lychee martini, mao shan wang and so on… Normal right?
My brother's choice of ice cream and waffle. He chose the buttermilk waffle ($4.50) and the flavour of vanilla with brownie ($3.30). I feel that his choice was super ordinary lor. The waffles tasted like any other normal waffles with great texture -crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The ice cream was also normal?? I couldn't taste the brownie at all……..
Hahah actually my ice cream choice was also normal. I ordered spooky chocolate ($3.30) and according to the girl serving me, she said it was dark chocolate?? Isn't dark chocolate supposed to be bitter and strong. This was totally like milk chocolate instead. The flavour of my ice cream of a disappointment but the red velvet waffle ($4.70) made up for it!!
The texture was the same as the buttermilk waffle but the cream cheese omggggg orgasm in my mouth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think the next time I head back to Oblong, I would order the waffles without any ice cream as topping so it won't spoil the waffle taste. And then order ice cream in a separate cup. I really wanted to have the more funky flavours but since it was meant to share among my family I decided to go with the usual typical flavours… my dad wouldn't like other flavours besides chocolate! SALTED CARAMEL AND LYCHEE MARTINI (omgomgomg favvvvvvvv of all time) I AM COMING BACK FOR YOU SOON. HOPEFULLY NEXT WEEK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ambience wise, music was good but it would be too loud for people seated indoors. The place will also get smokey because of the waffle machine so I would prefer seating outdoors. Oh read reviews that they only operate until 10pm but guess what, I went at about 10.30pm. I was quite sad that my mookata didn't finish by 10pm but after we were done we decided to just try out luck and tadahhhhh. I think bluff one la, especially for weekends. So I am not sure of the opening hours!!
