Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee
534 MacPherson Road, Singapore 368220
Had an impromptu visit to Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee this afternoon with Andrea to give it a try since many have been raving about how awesome it is. They were all so excited about this first branch in Singapore. Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee is originated from Kuala Lumpur and I have never had the chance to try the authentic one. Hence, I definitely cannot compare. But I am very very very pleased with the meal I had. Read blogs and reviews saying that the queue to get a table would be very long and the time taken for the food to arrive would be 1 hour plus? However, I managed to get a table almost immediately when I arrived at the place even though it was the lunch hour… and I am VERY THANKFUL for that because the weather was a bitch and I needed to be in an air-conditioned area. The food took about 30 mins to be served though. I guess I was lucky since there were so many bad reviews on the arrival of food. I was also lucky because I heard it would be sold out very fast??? Yeah, true that even the drinks were only left with barely and water chestnut. One of my friend also told me he waited for 1 hour plus for a seat and when it was his turn, only mee hoon kuay soup or something was left!! To avoid disappointment I think the latest you can visit is 3pm man, even though the opening hours is till 8pm.
Okay so anyway…….. if you don't fancy or cannot take chilli, I don't think you'd enjoy this dry pan mee (known as ban mian). The chilli was sooooo good I love it so much!!!! DUH the food chain is named chilli pan mee for a reason ahahah. It is not oily at all… it was like crispy and spicy. The best thing about the chilli was that it didn't smell like hei bi hiam at al, some chilli will have a mixture of hei bi one right? I really hate the smell of hei bi hiam so grow omg. Besides the signature dry pan mee, there were soup based available too but I didn't get to try them. The handmade fish ball looked damn yuma also. The next time I visit again I would definitely try the fish ball since there were good reviews too. Oh ya, a bowl of dry ban mee costs $5! I guess its a reasonable price since the demand is high (chey act one economist nia). Give it a try!! If you hate waiting….. then wait till the hype dies down.
