Hello my dear blog. I know that i've been neglecting you for so long. But I am back! I am finally gonna do an update on my Korea trip before I move on to my recent Taiwan trip, where I spent my 20th birthday there hehe. It has been 2 months so I can't really remember the exact details so please forgive me for the vague details.
Day 1: Changi Airport > Incheon Airport > Gimpo Airport > Jeju Airport
Reached ICN after 6 hours of flight. Took the AREX that was an airport line to Hongkik University Station to meet our Seoul host so we can put our main luggages at the accommodation so we don't have to luge it around Jeju! After that we headed to Gimpo Airport via the AREX for our flight to Jeju! Arrive after an hour flight. Checked in to our guest house (booked through airbnb) that was just 10 minutes away from the Jeju Airport and 3 minutes away from Jeju Bus Terminal. Very convenient!
First meal in Jeju. Happen to chance upon it while we randomly walked down the street from our accommodate. It was soooooo good and affordable! It was opened by an ahjummah. Jjang!
Day 2: O'sulloc & Innis Free Jeju House > Cherry Blossom Festival
425, Sinhwayeoksa-ro, Andeok-
myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
1 hour+ bus ride from Jeju Bus Terminal but I can't remember what the bus number is. Just tell the person O'sulloc when purchasing the bus tickets!
Entrance fee is free.
Made our very own soap there just by buying a kit! You can also buy it home to make but you won't have the stamp and glitter. We had 3 flavours to choose from- green tea, tangerine and volcanic idk what......... I chose green tea.
Spent almost the entire day there making soap LOL and also because we left house late la. So our plans to visit other places fail. We were also afraid that it will be too dark to take a bus back. Jeju is damn ulu and it takes like 1 hour to get from a destination to another...
Chanced upon a cherry blossom festival near our accomodation so we decided to soak in the Korean atmosphere!
Day 3: Manjanggul Cave > Seolsan Iichulbong > Seopikoji
Manjaggul Cave
3341-3, Gimnyeong-ri, Gujwa-eup,
Jeju-si, Jeju-do
Took a bus from Jeju Bus Terminal then took a cab in!
Entrance fee: ₩ 2,000 per person
Seolsan Iichulbong
284-12, Ilchul-ro, Seongsan-eup,
Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do
Took a bus from Manjanggul Cave!
Entrance fee: ₩ 2,000 per person
Almost died while climbing up. Wanted to give up but......... there was only one way down.
Seopikoji
No address but it was just a short distance from Seolsan Iichulbong. Walkable but our legs were on the verge of breaking so we took a cab there and the cab meter didn't even jump wtf I love cabs in Korea!!!!!!!
Entrance fee: ₩ 1,500 per person (I think)
Dinner at some random place near the peak. We went in and there were photos of Choo Sarang and her dad.. Apparently they came to this restaurant when they filmed for The Return of Superman. Yummy abalone porridge!!!!! Affordable too!
Day 4: Jeju > Gimpo
Took an hour bus ride to some waterfall, I think it was Jeonbang Waterfall, but unfortunately it was raining while we were on the bus. We thought that it might be safer not to go all the way there in case it was closed. Settle for chicken dak galbi for lunch which was daeeeeebak. Love entering random food places because we have no expectations and it will be surprisingly good!
Our host was kind enough and offered to send us to the airport! Thank youuuuuuuu!!
Met Wookyoung after we arrived back in Seoul, who brought us back to our place for the next 15 days! Our loft was booked through airbnb!
Jeju was basically just sceneries and travelling as its a rural area. It was my second time to Jeju and it's still as beautiful as before. The fresh air was a plus point! Travelling may be a little inconvenient. I suggest that if you're travelling in a big group, hire a van for the few days or something. Its gonna be cheaper and time saving. We had to travel at least one hour to the tourists attractions and its definitely impossible to walk. Everywhere is just the sea or a plot of empty field.... But fret not, you can travel around by buses too. There a screen on the bus which will tell you your stop. The announcements made will also be in different languages like Korean, Chinese, English and Japanese. The announcements will be more obvious when it comes to the bus stop for tourists spots!
As much as I loved the days spent there, I was really very glad to go back to bustling Seoul. I was so so so so happy when I exited Hongkik Uni station and saw buildings with billboards/ LED lights/ macdonalds and the huge forever 21, the shopping and lively streets with youngsters in general. I can never live outside the city, I swear.
More of it in another post!!
